Circle Activities

STEM Exploration: Use recyclable materials (books, tubes, etc.) to build a structure that is bigger than, smaller than, and equal in size to an object (i.e., chair, table, shelf). Use standard and non-standard measurements to talk about the sizes. Watch the video below to see this simple STEM experiment in action.

Goals

P-SE 4. Children will play cooperatively and work together to make plans for what/how they will play together.

P-SCI 3. Children will use measurement tools to assess the properties of and compare observable phenomena.

Bonus: How Tall Is Fitz

We use standard and non-standard measurements to find out how tall Fitz is. This activity is easy (and fun!) to replicate with students in class or at home.

Bonus: Simple STEM Experiment

Learn a simple experiment for building and using an inclined plane. While filming this video, I learned that Fitz really does not like toy cars. His reaction was so intense that I could not bring myself to force him to sit through filming. As a result, Fitz is noticeably absent for much of this video.
