Name Game: Place popsicle sticks with students' names into a cup. Pull a stick from the cup and say the child's name. Invite the child to come to the front for a name chant. Repeat a few times so that different children have an opportunity to participate.
Roll and Count Game: Children take turns rolling large dice. Count the number of dots shown together. Jump once for every dot.
Goals
P-MATH 1. Child knows number names and the count sequence.
P-ATL 5. Child demonstrates an increasing ability to control impulses.
Bonus!
Getting into school day routines can be hard for young children and for grownups. Even before Covid-19 upended the way we think about and do school, those first few weeks can be challenging.
Fitz and I created this short video about his school day routine. It is our greatest hope that children watching Fitz's school day routine will think, "I can do this. I can go to school. My grown up will come back to pick me up at the end of the day. It's okay to have fun and play." Just like Fitz!
